At approximately 9:55p.m, Tuesday, May 30, 2000, Sacramento Police Officers responded to 47th St. and 13th Ave. regarding a “shoot out” as reported by a citizen. The first officers on the scene found a dark colored vehicle in a vacant lot at the Northeast corner of 47th St. and 13th Ave. The vehicles’ headlights were on, the engine was racing, the wheels were spinning and churning up dirt and debris. The officers yelled commands to the driver to turn off his vehicle and to get out of the vehicle. The driver who was identified as nineteen-year-old Gonzalo Sanchez was transported to U.C. Davis Medical Center where he is in critical condition as a result of multiple gunshot wounds by an unknown assailant or assailants. No firearm was found in Gonzalo Sanchez’ vehicle.
