Homicide Suspect in Custody

Sacramento Police Officers arrested Chema Strawther (male, DOB 05/05/81)  in connection with the homicide of Thomas Edward Jackson (male, DOB 6/26/46).  At approximately 9:43 p.m. yesterday, June 7, 2000, Mr. Strawther was arrested from a residence on the 1300 block of “D” Street.  Mr. Strawther was booked into the Sacramento County Jail on one count of homicide (187 P.C.).

A second suspect, Joshua “Josh” Duncan Thomas, remains outstanding.  Josh Thomas is described as a male African American, 27 years old (DOB 09/08/72), 6'2", 225 pounds, bushy black/brown hair, and hazel eyes.  Mr. Thomas is known to frequent the downtown area, particularly the “K” Street Mall and Old Sacramento.

On June 3, 2000 at approximately 10:25 p.m.  Thomas Jackson was assaulted and robbed in the 2400 block of Broadway.  Mr. Jackson died on Monday, June 5, 2000, at Sutter General Hospital  as a result of the injuries he sustained during the assault.
