Subject:  DUI Check Point

The Sacramento Police Department will be conducting a sobriety and drivers license Check Point on Sunday, July 2, 2000 in the area of Waterway Accesses.  Traffic flowing through the check point will be contacted by uniformed Officers who will be checking for alcohol or drug impaired drivers.  Officers will also be checking all drivers for valid drivers' licenses.

The purpose of the DUI Check Point is to remove the DUI and unlicensed drivers from our streets and to inform the driving public of the dangers of drinking or using drugs.  Also, to diminish the amount of pain, suffering and death that results from driving while impaired.

Approximately two hours prior to implementation of the DUI Check Point there will be a press release noting the location and approximate time duration of the Check Point.
