On September 7th 2000, at approximately 6:30 p.m., members of the Sacramento Police Department SWAT team took suspect Shawn Daniel Rodriques, male, Hispanic, 32 years of age, (DOB 8-17-68) into custody for a series of local Gas Station/Mini-Mart robberies.

The apprehension of suspect Rodriques is a direct result of the comprehensive media coverage and "Crime Alert" tips received from concerned citizens who viewed television news broadcasts on September 6th 2000.  SWAT team members took Rodriques into custody in the area of 50th Ave. and Wire Drive without incident after an exhaustive surveillance.  Suspect Rodriques will be charged with four counts of armed robbery.  Until the investigation concludes including interview of witnesses, a photograph of suspect Rodriques will not be available.

The Sacramento Police Department recognizes the response of the media, response of concerned citizens to Crime Alert, and the Shell Oil Company for maintaining quality video equipment for the apprehension of Shawn Daniel Rodriquez.
