MAN SHOT AND KILLED ON CITY STREET
UPDATE

 

The Sacramento Police Department has arrested two suspects for the murder of Rojelio Garcia Santana, male Hispanic 27 (D.O.B. 12-21-72).  Santana was found Sunday night, October 1, 2000 laying in a pool of blood on the sidewalk on the north side of Mack Rd. several hundred feet west of Center Parkway.  Santana had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

Arrested:
 1. Maldonado, Jose, Male 21 years (D.O.B. 11-07-79)
  7811 Summersdale

 2. De Ponte, David Arthur, Male 26 years (D.O.B. 12-08-75)
  5280 Mack Rd.

The above two suspects were arrested by members of the Sacramento Police Departments CCAT and SWAT teams at their residences.  The investigation revealed that the motive for the homicide was that the suspects believed the victim had gone to the authorities and reported their criminal activity in the neighborhood.  Victim Santana lived in 5400 block of Mack Rd. and also worked at the Seven Eleven market at Center Parkway and Mack Rd..  Santana was also robbed by the suspects at the time of the shooting.  At the time of the arrest officers recovered over a pound of marijuana from the apartments of the suspects.

Santana leaves behind a wife and four children.
