The Sacramento Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a rape suspect.

On July 23, 2002, at approximately 2:00 p.m., an 87-year-old female was sexually assaulted  inside her residence, in the area of 17th and T Streets.

After having work completed at her residence, the victim was about to sit down for lunch when there was a knock at the front door.  The victim answered the door and contacted a male white adult whom she had not seen before (suspect).  The suspect stated that he was there to conduct follow-up work and referred to the previous worker by name.  At this time, it does not appear that the two are related.   Gaining the victim’s confidence, the suspect eventually entered the residence and sexually assaulted the victim.  Additionally, the suspect took a small amount of cash from the residence and fled the scene.

Suspect description: Male white, 30-40 years of age, 5'8"-5'9", stocky/muscular build, brown hair.  Suspect identified himself as “Rob” to the victim.

A sketch of the suspect is being released in hope that someone in the public will recognize the person responsible for this crime.
