The long awaited dedication of the Sacramento Police and Sheriff’s Memorial is taking place on Saturday, October 26, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. at Woodlake Park (500 Arden Way, behind the fire station located at Arden Way and Del Paso Blvd.).

Conceptualized twelve years ago, construction on this Memorial began in 1994.  Through the grass roots efforts of local residents, business leaders, labor organizations, and the Sacramento Police and Sheriff’s Departments, this Memorial will represent those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.   This project was funded through donations and fund-raising.  The labor unions from the Sacramento Sierra Trades Council provided the labor needed to complete this Memorial.

This Memorial site will pay tribute to 14 Sacramento Police Department Officers, 12 Sacramento County Sheriffs Deputies, and one Sacramento County District Attorney Investigator.  May these names be the last.
