On November 1, 2002 at approximately 2:14 a.m., Sacramento Police Officers were called to the area of Capitol Mall and the Sacramento River regarding an assault that had just occurred.

Upon arrival, Officers located a subject laying in a make-shift bed.  The bed was located on the boardwalk, south of the Tower Bridge.  The male subject, further described as a male white adult, approximately 45 years old, appeared to have suffered from unknown trauma to his head.  Sacramento Fire responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.  Sacramento Police Homicide Investigators were summoned and are currently investigating.

An unknown male, possibly wearing a white hooded sweatshirt was seen in the area prior to the assault.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
