REWARD OFFERED IN MURDER

On Thursday, November 7, 2002, at 10:00 a.m.,  the Sacramento Police Department and representatives from the Carrington-Sund Foundation will announce a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect(s) in the murder of Charles Andrew Witherow. This announcement will take place in the Hall of Honor of Police Headquarters (5770 Freeport Blvd.)

On June 2, 2001 at approximately 1:14 a.m., Witherow and a friend were driving north on Highway 99 south of 12th Avenue when a vehicle pulled along side of them and shot numerous times into the victim’s vehicle.  Both Witherow and the driver were struck by bullets.  The vehicle came to rest on Highway 99 and was struck by several vehicles, erupting into flames.  The driver of the vehicle, with the aid of a citizen, was able to get out of the vehicle.  Witherow was unable to get out of the vehicle.

Sacramento Police investigators, the Carrington-Sund Foundation, and a representative of the Witherow family will be available for comment and interview during the press conference.
