HOLIDAY SAFETY TIPS
With the holiday season upon us, certain
crimes such as robbery and burglary tend to increase. The Sacramento
Police Department would like to inform the public about crime prevention
and personal safety. Being alert and aware of your surroundings can
greatly reduce the risk of becoming a victim. The following are some
reminders of how to stay safe:
SHOPPING:
-
Stay alert when returning to your car and
keep your keys ready in your hand.
-
Use the buddy system; shop with a friend.
Most personal attacks happen when a person is alone.
-
Be aware of your surroundings. Avoid
dark areas.
-
Put your purchases in your trunk.
OUT AND ABOUT:
-
Park in well lighted areas.
-
Lock your car and close all windows.
-
Do not leave valuables inside your car in
plain sight
-
Drive extra carefully. DO NOT DRINK
AND DRIVE.
-
Be alert when you use an ATM.
HOME:
-
Don’t place packages in your home where they
can be seen from the door or a window.
-
Do not open doors for strangers.
-
Ask for identification prior to giving charitable
donations.
The Sacramento Police
Department wishes all of you a happy and safe holiday season!
