On November 29, 2002, at 2:46 p.m., Sacramento Police Officers responded to 3701 Marysville Blvd. regarding a report of two people who had been shot. Upon arrival, Officers located two African American male adults, lying on the ground, each suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the upper torso. The victims have been identified as Hudson Agustus, DOB 5-19-82, and his younger brother Gregory Agustus, DOB 3-12-84.
Witnesses described the suspect as an African American male adult, 5-7, 180 lbs. He was last seen running North on Balsam St. from Roanoke Av.
Homicide Investigators have identified the suspect as Jovon Latrell Jordan, DOB 7-26-86, male, African American juvenile, 5-7, 180 lbs. Jordan is described as medium to light complected and is known to wear his hair in braids. Jordan is an admitted gang member and has prior arrests for assault with a deadly weapon. A warrant for Jordan’s arrest has been prepared and is being reviewed by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.
The investigation has revealed that Jordan and one of the victims had a short verbal exchange inside of a clothing store on the 3700 block of Marysville Blvd. Jordan was reported to be angered by a comment made and followed the victim out of the store. Jordan and the victim continued arguing outside at which time the victim’s brother approached. Suspect Jordan produced a handgun and shot both victims in the upper torso. The victims were transported by ambulance to area hospital where they were both pronounced dead a short time later.
Sacramento Police Department Officers, Detectives, and the Career Criminal Apprehension Team, (a multi agency task force), are actively searching for the suspect. Due to the violent nature of this crime and the concern for public safety, the Sacramento Police Department is requesting that all media outlets broadcast this information so that Jordan can be taken into custody as soon as possible. A photograph of Jordan will be available on our website at www.sacpd.org.
Lt. Mike Bray will be available for comment on this case today, December 2, 2002, between 5:15 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the Public Safety Center (5770 Freeport Blvd.).
