HOMICIDE ARRESTS

Sacramento Police Homicide Detectives recently made two arrests in connection with two gang related Homicides which occurred a few days apart in the later part of June.

On June 17, 2003, at approximately 11:33 p.m., Christine Cheatham was driving her vehicle in the area of 6635 Valley Hi Drive when her passenger and some pedestrians exchanged gang related terminology.  As a result one of the pedestrians identified as Larry Roach, male African American, DOB 06/12/84, shot at the passing vehicle killing Christine Cheatham.  Suspect Roach has been charged with murder and subsequently booked into the county jail.

On June 22, 2003, at approximately 12:26 a.m., Shatavia Westbrook was killed while riding in a  vehicle in the area of 23rd Street and Kenworthy Way after a large party broke up and shots were fired.  Homicide Detectives have identified Thomas Rumph Jr., male African American, DOB 09/05/84, as the shooter and subsequently requested a warrant for murder from the Sacramento District Attorneys office.  The warrant was granted and suspect Rumph was charged with the Homicide on July 1,2003 while in custody at the county jail.

Pictures of the suspects are not being released at this time pending further investigation.
