Elderly Robberies

The Sacramento Police Department is asking the community to be on alert.  On five separate occasions suspects have attacked elderly victims, taking money and other items.

On July 15, 2003, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a 99-year old victim living on the 800 block of Robertson Way heard crashing noises in front of his residence.  The victim went outside to investigate, finding nothing.  After returning inside the residence, the victim was confronted by suspects who turned off the light and pushed the victim to the floor.  The victim was tied up and his eyes were covered while the suspects ransacked the residence.  After believing the suspects had left, the victim was able to free himself and contact the police.  Jewelry and money were taken.

On August 3, 2003, at approximately 12:45 p.m., a 79-year old victim was walking home from Kmart in the area of Jansen Drive and Ortega Street when a black Mazda pulled up to the victim.  A suspect excited the vehicle, grabbed the victim’s arm, and ripped the victim’s wallet from his pocket.

On August 4, 2003, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the above 99-year old victim was doing yard work in front of his residence on the 800 block of Robertson Way.  A newer four door, white vehicle stopped in front of his residence.  A male Black adult exited the vehicle and asked the victim about houses for rent/sale.  The suspect then grabbed the victim and reached into his pockets, demanding money.  The suspect dragged the victim across the lawn towards the house and then fled.  The victim had no property on him therefore nothing was taken.

On August 4, 2003, at approximately 11:00 a.m., an 82-year old victim was taking his daily walk in the area of 23rd   Avenue and Joaquin Way when a vehicle described as a white sedan stopped nearby.  A similarly described suspect exited the vehicle and asked the victim for the time.  The suspect then pulled out a knife and demanded money.  The suspect pushed the victim to the ground and ripped the victim’s wallet from his back pocket.

On August 4, 2003, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a 62-year old victim was cleaning paintbrushes in front of his residence on the 5000 block of Lerner Way.  A suspect approached the victim and asked a question.  The victim who does not understand English, could not decipher what the suspect said.  The suspect pushed the victim to the ground and ripped the victim’s wallet from his back pocket.

Suspect descriptions:

Male Black adult, late 20’s, 5’10”-6’0”, 225 lbs., shaved/bald head, muscular build, light blue basketball tank top and light blue basketball shorts, buck/prominent teeth.

Male Black adult, early 20’s, 5’6”-5’8”, 180 lbs, short black hair, broken front tooth.
