Homicide Investigation Update

On Wednesday, August 20th,2003, at approximately 11:29 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department received a 911 call reporting the sound of gunshots at the Taco Bell restaurant, at 5550 Martin Luther King Blvd.  Patrol officers arrived on scene within two minutes and discovered two gunshot victims.  The victims were medically treated at the scene and, subsequently transported to the UCD Medical Center.  Allen Qualls died as a result of his gunshot wounds. The other victim survived but remains hospitalized.

Homicide detectives responded to investigate and determined that the victims were in their car, in the restaurant’s drive-thru, ordering food.  The suspects approached the victims’ car on foot and fired several gunshots at the victims.  The suspects left the scene on foot.  The shooting stemmed from an earlier argument between the victims and the suspects.

Suspect in Custody

Ralph King was arrested for homicide on 08/23/03, at 3:10 p.m. A photograph will be forthcoming, pending further investigation.

Second Suspect Arrested

Demarkas King, the second suspect identified in this homicide, was arrested in San Ysidro on Sunday morning, 08/24/03, at the border of  Mexico.  Demarkus King is the son of Ralph King and both were identified during the investigation as the responsible’s for the shooting at the Taco Bell, 5550 Martin Luther King Blvd.  A photograph will be forthcoming, pending further investigation.
