Serial Rapist

The Sacramento Police Department is seeking the community’s help in identifying a rape suspect responsible for six sexual assaults in the Sacramento area.  Today, September 2, 2003,Sacramento Police Investigators were informed by the Crime Lab that DNA testing revealed that the same suspect was responsible for the six separate assaults – two in the City and four in the County of Sacramento. Investigators do not, however, know the identity of the suspect.  Two sketches were completed as a result of the preliminary investigation and investigators are hoping that someone may recognize the suspect.

On March 14, 2003, at approximately 2:40 a.m., an 18 year old female was walking in the area of La Mancha Way and Tangerine Avenue when a late 1990's to 2000, dark green, Ford Escort drove by and slowed.  The same vehicle drove and slowed by the victim two additional times. The third time the suspect drove by, he turned onto Tangerine Avenue and out of the victim’s sight.  As she approached Tangerine Avenue she saw the suspect,  who was the driver of the vehicle, walking towards her.  The victim walked into the street to avoid contact with the suspect.  After the suspect passed, she was grabbed from behind and dragged to nearby bushes where she was sexually assaulted.  After the assault, the victim ran to a nearby residence where she called  police.

On March 22, 2003, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the victim was in the area of 3246 J Street when the suspect, who was inside a dark colored mini-van, asked her if she needed a ride home.  Thinking the mini-van was a taxi, the victim got into the vehicle.  The victim provided the suspect with her address and asked the suspect to take her home.

The suspect started driving towards the victim’s house, but instead drove to an unknown location where he sexually assaulted her inside his van.  After the assault, the suspect drove around with the victim, debating whether or not he was going to release her.  He finally released the victim at 4:00 a.m. at Sam Brannan Middle School (5301 Elmer Way).  After the victim was released, she ran to a nearby residence where she called the police.

Suspect description:   male Black adult, late 20's to early 30's, 5'6" to 5'8", 200 lbs.
