On Saturday, October 25, 2003, at approximately 10:12 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department received a 911 call regarding a shooting victim at 301 Doolittle Street. Officers arrived and discovered the victim lying on the front grass area suffering from a single gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel treated and transported the victim to the U.C. Davis Medical Center where the victim succumbed to his injuries. The victims name is not being released pending notification of the next of kin.
Sacramento Police Department Homicide Detectives
responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. Homicide Detectives
learned that a group of men and women were stopped in the parking lot of
a nearby market. An argument developed which quickly evolved into a physical
altercation. The two groups got into their respective cars and left the
market parking lot, chasing each other. The two carloads ended up back
at 301 Doolittle Street, where one group shot multiple rounds at the other
group. The victim, who was visiting in the area and not part of the original
altercation, was shot and later died from his injuries. The
motivation for the shooting is unknown at this time. Furthermore, it is
unknown whether this crime is gang related.
HOMICIDE UPDATE
Sacramento Police Department Homicide Detectives developed information on a possible suspect vehicle involved in the homicide that occurred on October 25, 2003, at 301 Doolittle Street. The occupants of the suspect vehicle were involved in the physical altercation with the victims at the Rainbow Market - 3810 Marysville Blvd. just prior to the shooting. The description of the suspect vehicle is as follows:
Suspect Vehicle: Light to medium blue, Oldsmobile, Cutlass Sierra, four door, with a smashed passengers side windshield. The occupants were described as (2) female black adults, 18 - 21 years old, along with (2) small children in the back seat, unknown on ages.
