Happy Halloween
The Sacramento Police Department wishes
you a happy Holloween and wants to remind parents of young children of
the potential hazards of Halloween.
Halloween night is the one night a year
when there will be children walking the streets in costumes trick-or-treating.
We would like to remind motorists that they need to be extra careful and
to watch out for children. The Sacramento Police Department would
like children and parents to be aware of the following safety tips:
-
Wear costumes that can easily be seen and that are light in color
-
A mask may keep you from seeing well, so make sure to take it off before
crossing the street.
-
Consider the use of reflective tape on your costume.
-
Plan your trick-or-treat route ahead of time. Pick well lighted streets.
-
Have a parent or guardian walk with the children.
-
Carry a flashlight with you, so you can see and be seen easily.
-
Cross only at corners. Never cross between parked cars or mid-block.
If there are no sidewalks, always walk facing traffic.
-
If possible, take a cellular telephone with you and report any suspicious
activity.
-
Do not carry or use "look a like" weapons, such as knives or guns.
-
Check all collected candy.
