Homicide Update

On Friday, December 5, 2003, at approximately 9:08 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department received a 911 call from a witness who reported a shooting in the parking lot of Bank of America, 940 Florin Road.  The victim, Herbert Takeda, was sitting in his closed and locked truck at the time he was shot.  Mr. Takeda died from his injuries.

A vehicle was seen leaving immediately after the shooting.  It was described as a dark silver or blue, Toyota Corolla.  The witness described an 85-86 model, but stated the taillights were most similar to an 87 model.

A second witness described a subject in the parking lot shortly before the murder.  That person is not a suspect, but we need to identify him and speak to him.  A sketch of that person is below.  The subject is described as a male, Hispanic, 28 years of age, 6 foot tall, 190 pounds.

The family of Herbert Takeda, Bank of America and the Asian Peace Officers Association are offering a $20,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this senseless murder.

Please contact the Sacramento Police Department at 264-5471 or Crime Alert 1-800-AA-CRIME with any information you may have.  You can remain anonymous.
