On May 14, 2004, two suspects approached a cigarette distributor (victim #1) after he had left the “Discount Cigarette” store on Howe and Marconi Avenues in Sacramento. The two suspects had also been inside the store at the same time as the victim.
Once outside, suspect #1 asked victim #1 for some cigarettes. He then asked victim #1 for his business address and telephone number. Suspect #1 introduced himself as “Rocky” and told victim #1 that he was going to open a cigarette store of his own.
Victim #1 and his wife (victim #2) then drove to 1950 Arden Way (Washington Mutual Bank) and noticed that suspect #1 was following behind him. As the victims exited their truck, suspect #1 approached them, pointed a silver gun at them and ordered them out of the vehicle.
Victim #2 grabbed her purse and ran screaming for help. Suspect #1 got into the victims’ truck and attempted to operate it. It appeared to victim #1 that suspect #1 was unable to operate a manual transmission.
Suspect #2 then appeared, got into the driver’s seat, started the truck and drove off. The victims had cigarettes and supplies inside the truck. The victim’s vehicle was recovered later the same day.
Suspect #1: “Rocky,” male Black adult, 35-40 years old, 5’6” – 5’7”, 180-185 lbs., medium build, medium complexion, dark baseball cap, grey short-sleeved button-up shirt, and blue jeans.
Suspect #2: Male Black adult, 28-32 years old, slight facial hair, medium complexion, light colored baseball cap with a dark brim, medium colored short-sleeved t-shirt and dark baggy pants.
