On May 28, 2004, at approximately 4:10 a.m., a male called the Sacramento Police Department from a pay-phone and advised that he killed his wife.  The caller advised that the police could find his wife in a residence at the 700 block of Bowles Street.  Officers were unable to locate the caller.

When officers arrived at the Bowles Street residence, they found a 47-year-old, Black female victim dead in the kitchen.  The victim had massive head injuries.

Officers later identified and arrested the caller as the victim’s parolee husband, ROY LEE DIGGS with a date of birth of July 26, 1962.  He was arrested at a relative’s residence at the 3800 block of Mahogany Street.  The name of the victim has not been released due to the notification of the next of kin.
