HOMICIDE UPDATE
The Sacramento Police Department is asking for the public’s help in solving this recent homicide. Early Sunday morning, July 25, 2004, at approximately 1:45 a.m., Sacramento County Sheriff Deputies responded to 65th Street near Stockton Boulevard regarding a 16 year old female who had been shot in the head. Upon arrival, officers found the victim deceased from a gunshot wound to her head.
It was determined that the shooting occurred at 8670 Younger Creek Drive and Sacramento Police Department Homicide Detectives responded. The victim, who was sitting in the backseat of a car with her infant son, was one of up to 300 spectators at an illegal drag race. At some point during the race, two suspects opened fired on the crowd with a shotgun filled with birdshot ammunition and an AK-47-type assault rifle, killing the victim and injuring six others. All of the other six victims have since been treated at local hospitals and released.
After interviewing numerous witnesses, it has been determined that there was a group of seven to eight males (all late teens to early 20’s) involved, however the primary suspects are:
Suspect #1:
Male Black adult, 18-21 years old, approximately 5’7”, thin build, 1” afro,
wearing dark clothing
Suspect #2:
Male Black adult, 18-21 years old, approximately 5’5”, 180 pounds, corn
rows in hair that was shoulder
length, wearing green or red baseball-style jersey
Suspect Vehicles:
Early 2000 Lincoln Towncar, 4-door, light in color
1992 white Honda Accord
Late 1970’s/Early 1980’s white Chevy Corvette
Anyone with information about this incident
is asked to contact the Sacramento Police Department or CRIME ALERT at
(916) 443-HELP or (800) AA-CRIME. Callers may remain anonymous and
can earn up to a $1,000 reward. Sacramento Police Homicide Detectives
are asking for any additional victims or witnesses from this event to please
come forward. Additionally, if anyone has
any photos or video footage of the
race event, they are asked to contact Homicide Detectives through our Communications
Center at 264-5471.
