Robbery Series

The Sacramento Police Department wants to offer a few safety tips to help you from becoming a victim of a robbery.

Since October 21, 2004, there have been 5 purse snatches in the Elder Creek/Lemon Hill area of Sacramento.  In this series, the suspect(s) are targeting Asian women ages 21 to 55.  The suspects are using intimidation and force to obtain their victim’s purse.

Suspect Description(s): One to two male, black suspects approaching victims in driveways and garages.  No weapons were seen.

Safety tips:  Stay alert!  Suspects are less apt to confront someone if they appear keen and aware.  Don’t carry large sums of money with you.  If you carry a purse, make sure the straps are across your chest.  If an aggressor that demands your purse or wallet confronts you, give it to them.  Don’t try to fight them off.

If you have any information regarding this robbery series, call Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP or (800) AA-CRIME.  Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for up to $1,000 reward.
