On Friday, December 10, 2004, the Sacramento Police Department will be participating in the Salvation Army’s celebrity “Battle of the Bells.”  Business, government and media personnel will gather for an intense competition to see who can raise the most donations for The Salvation Army’s red kettles.  Celebrities will host the festivities and kick-off the competition.

The Kick-Off Ceremony begins at 12:00 p.m., in front of the Macy’s building located at 414 K Street.  The Celebrity competition is from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., between the Hard Rock Café and Macy’s.  Local weather anchor Dave Bender, from KOVR-13 will be the master of ceremonies.

Other local celebrities will include Police Chief Albert Najera, Sacramento County Sheriff Lou Blanas, The Salvation Army’s Major Eda Hokom, and many other prominent members of the media and Sacramento business community.
