Brutal Rape Suspect
Identified through DNA
On July 31,1995, a female adult who lived
in the Tahoe Park area of Sacramento was brutally raped by a suspect who
entered her residence just after midnight. The victim was awakened
by a noise. She looked up and saw the suspect standing in the doorway
of her bedroom. She screamed and threw a pillow at the suspect.
The suspect then grabbed and forced her to the ground, brutally raping
her. All leads were exhausted in 1995 and the case was eventually
filed, awaiting new information.
On December 3, 2004, the Sacramento Police
Department received information from the Sacramento County Crime Lab of
a DNA hit retrieved from evidence of the assault. Sacramento Police
Detective Pete Willover and Kim Clark from the Sacramento County District
Attorney’s Office continued the investigation that lead to the arrest of
Alfred G. Martinez (D.O.B.- 09-27-71) for probable cause of multiple
counts of sexual assault and burglary. Martinez was arrested at his
residence at 1701 Q Street, #7 on December 21, 2004 at 9:20 a.m.
He is currently being incarcerated at the Sacramento County Main Jail.
