STREET GANG ENFORCEMENT TEAM MAKING
A DIFFERENCE
The Sacramento Police Department’s Street
Gang Enforcement Team (SGET) is a multi-jurisdictional task force with
representatives from the Sacramento Police Department, Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Sacramento County Probation Department.
For the last six weeks the Street Gang Enforcement Team has arrested over
70 validated gang members and associates for a variety of felony crimes,
including murder, drive-by shootings, assault with a deadly weapon, ex-con
with a gun, and possession of a concealed firearm. Most significantly,
the Street Gang Enforcement Team has seized 46 firearms from validated
gang members. These weapons have ranged from semi-automatic handguns
to assault rifles.
The Street Gang Enforcement Team is working
to reduce the amount of gang-related violence in our communities. To continue
our efforts in the apprehension of violent gang members, the Street Gang
Enforcement Team is seeking information from the community about gang members
actively involved in crimes. Specifically, SGET is seeking information
about gang members who are in possession of firearms, selling firearms,
and/or concealing firearms.
Anyone with information about gang activity
is strongly encouraged to call the Sacramento Police Department Gang Tip
Line, 441-GANG (4264). Callers may remain anonymous and reward money
is available on a case-by-case basis.
