Homicide
On Thursday, June 30, 2005 at 2:54 p.m.
the Sacramento Police Department received several 911 calls reporting that
a man had been shot on Silver Eagle Road near Northgate Blvd. Patrol
officers arrived within minutes and located a gunshot victim. The
officers initiated CPR while the Sacramento Fire Department personnel were
en route. The 39-year-old victim sustained several gunshot wounds
to his upper torso and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Fire Department
personnel.
Officers also located several witnesses
and requested the assistance of Homicide Unit investigators.
The victim was killed as he walked alone, in the direction of his residence,
which was a few blocks away. The victim was shot by someone who was
the occupant of a mid-size sedan. The suspect car was possibly a
Honda or Toyota make. The motive for the murder has not been determined,
however, homicide investigators are exploring the possibility that the
victim was involved in an earlier argument with a person near the intersection
of Northgate Blvd and San Juan Road.
This murder does not appear to have been
a random act. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending
the notification of his next of kin.
Anyone with information regarding this
case is asked to call Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP or (800) AA-CRIME.
Callers may remain anonymous and are eligible for up to a $1,000 reward.
