Fugitive From Sacramento
Apprehended In Mexico
On July 6, 2005, Alejandro Santana,
age 25, was taken into custody by Mexican Immigration authorities in Mexico
City, Mexico for entering the Country illegally. He was then
released to the FBI and Sacramento Police Department authorities on charges
of murder, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, and carjacking.
Santana has been wanted for his participation
in the execution style shooting of Thomas Buchholz on August 22, 2000 (see
August 24, 2000 in press release archives). Santana was charged in
the incident along with three other individuals, Anthony F. Camacho, age
25, Theodore Santos, age 23, and Jose Luis Rivera, age 24, all of who have
been arrested, tried, and convicted. Camacho and Rivera are serving
sentences of 25 years to life. Santos who was a juvenile at the time
of the crime, served a minor sentence and is currently out on probation.
Santana has been in Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP) status
since September 2000.
The Sacramento Police Department
and the Sacramento FBI office have been working closely and diligently
on locating and arresting Santana since the time of the murder. Santana
was incarcerated at the Sacramento County Main Jail at approximately 1:00
a.m. this morning and will be held to answer on the above charges.
