National Night Out Events

Tomorrow night, August 2, 2005, residents throughout Sacramento will join neighborhoods throughout the nation in celebrating the 22nd Annual National Night Out.  Nearly 50 neighborhoods throughout the City are planning events such as block parties, BBQ’s, ice cream socials, flashlight parades, and other neighborhood social activities – all in an effort to get to know their neighbors better so that, together, they can fight to keep crime out of their neighborhoods.  During this evening’s events, the Sacramento Police Department will be sending officers and other representatives to visit these neighborhood celebrations to show our support for their efforts.

National Night Out is an event designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; and to send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
