Our Partners

The partnerships RCPI-Sacramento has developed are of critical importance to its mission. The role of the partners is to provide expertise concerning community policing as well as input regarding classes and scheduling. The partners are active representatives with whom the Institute staff regularly interacts.

• The Sacramento Police Department was awarded the RCPI grant in 1997 and has provide funding and supported the mission of RCPI since its inception.

• Within the California Attorney General’s Office, RCPI-Sacramento works closely with the Crime Prevention and Violence Prevention Center in the development and presentation of COPPS classes. Their Community Policing Training and Technical Assistance Office provides information and resources to law enforcement agencies, other government agencies, community groups, schools and community members. Their extensive resource list includes publications and videos that address community policing and a wide variety of topics.

• The California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) is the regulatory agency for law enforcement training in California. Not only do they certify the training provided by RCP, but they also provide travel and training reimbursement to California agencies.

• The Sacramento Mediation Center partners with RCPI - Sacramento by providing Basic Mediation Skills training to the community.

• The Los Rios Community College District is a partner of the RCPI California - Sacramento Office and provides classroom facilities for its courses. Curriculum presented in the District is certified through the Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center and American River College.

• The Sacramento Regional Office of Homeland Security and its Sacramento Region Citizens Corps are partners of the RCPI - CA, Sacramento Office, in the development and presentation of preparedness training. Classes include: Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), G & T certified Neighborhood Emergency Training (NET) for community trainers.
