The Student Trainee Program is designed to provide college students
with the opportunity to work in the Police Department while attending
school. The program is designed to assist students in gaining experience
that helps them reach their career goals. Student Trainees will
be assigned to one of ten different locations within the department
working alongside SPD personnel to assist them in the performance
of their duties.
Applicants must be at least 16 years old and carrying at least 12
college semester units with a minimum GPA of 2.0 in each class.
Student Trainees must meet the department Standards
for Drug Usage.
Applicants must complete a City of Sacramento Application and pass
a pre-selection interview designed to measure their ability to assume
the responsibilities of a Student Trainee. All applicants must successfully
pass a background investigation and a final selection interview. Salary is $11.57 per hour and Student Trainees generally
work 20-24 hours per week.
