Research demonstrates that incorporating a public safety perspective into environmental design can enhance crime prevention.
This approach, known as Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), is a multi-disciplinary approach to crime prevention
through the proper use of crime-deterring building and environmental designs, and technologies.
The CPTED Unit works with the community and other city departments to develop comprehensive crime prevention strategies that reduce
opportunities for crime. This includes key collaboration between stakeholders such as law enforcement, city planners, and business and residential owners.
