Incidents are from shifts that start on : July 19, 2009

The information provided allows for a timely snapshot of significant events in our community.  The crimes reported here are preliminary investigations, taken in the field by patrol officers, and may or may not be assigned to a Detective for further investigation.  The information provided may be found after further investigation to be incorrect or false.  Certain details of these incidents have been removed due to potential follow up investigation into the incident and/or for privacy rights.

North Command

09-218425 (Robbery): Oxford St / Calvados Ave at 1148 hours.

Victim was in her car when she was approached by a male black suspect 18-20 yrs old. Suspect asked for a cigarette and as victim was retrieving it from her purse suspect reached in and grabbed the purse from driver's side door hand rest. Susp: MBA 18-20, mouth grille, light eyes, dreadlocks with light colored tips.


09-218484 (Robbery): 4200 block of Austin Way at 1332 hours.

Victim was at the above address when suspect (known to victim) pulled up in a vehicle. Suspect got out of vehicle holding what appeared to be a gun and told him to hand over his property. Suspect got away with some property.  Investigation is on-going. 


09-218722 (Indecent Exposure): 2900 block of Davenport Way at 1903 hours.

Officer observed male subject completely naked running up and down the street. Officer attempted to contact subject who became hostile towards him.  Officer called for additional units and ended up pepper spraying the subject when he came at him in an aggressive manner.  Subject was transported to hospital and was believed to be under the influence of drugs.  Subject was cited out for 314 and 148 PC.

 


09-218763 (Disturbance): 2700 block of Branch St at 1945 hours.

Subjects here are in on going dispute with subject from a nearby residence.  Complainant claimed both times that subjects had guns.  Most of the subjects involved were located and identified and no guns were located. 

 


09-218905 (Shooting into Dwelling): 200 block of Aldeburgh Cir at 2241 hours.

The resident at the above address called to report that someone shot out his sliding glass window.  The victim heard a pop and then his sliding glass door shattered.  The investigating officer believed that a BB gun was possibly used. 


09-219080 (Traffic Stop): Rio Linda Blvd / South Ave at 0325 hours.

Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for vehicle code violations.  During a search of the vehicle, a handgun was located.  One suspect was arrested for possessing the firearm.

 


Central Command

09-218926 (Pursuit): Front St / V St at 2314 hours.

Officer initiated a pursuit in the area of Front and V Street for a traffic violation.  The pursuit continued north bound on Front Street.  The suspect was unsuccessful when he attempted to negotiate a west bound turn from Front Street onto O Street.  The suspect crashed his vehicle onto a cement planter box.  The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

 

 


09-218378 (Kidnapping): 1100 block of 2nd St at 1029 hours.

Victim and her mother live at above address. At approximately 1029 hours, former roommates came to the door and were let in. Former roommates claimed that victim's mother owed one of them money. Suspects assaulted victim and her mother. Suspects forced victim into vehicle and took her to a business to make her get some money. The business was closed and suspects left victim and fled the area.  Officers responded to new residence of the suspects and arrested them without incident. Victim was not seriously injured.  Suspects: Clark, Joni 47-years-old; Belmontes, Gilbert 19-years-old, and Juarez, Eric 19-years-old.


09-218865 (Fatal Accident): Howe Ave / Swarthmore Dr at 2207 hours.

A 19yr old male driver of a white 4d Buick LeSabre was traveling n/b on Howe Ave just north of the American River Bridge.  Per witnesses, the driver attempted to swerve around a slower vehicle and lost control of his vehicle.  The vehicle skidded up onto the center divider and collided into a tree on the passenger side. 

The passenger was a 16yr old FWJ was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  Traffic investigators responded for the collision report.


09-218818 (Stolen Vehicle): Us 50 Wb / 65th St at 2119 hours.

CSUS units came up on radio advising they had a stolen vehicle with a hit and run and suspects running.  SPD units were dispatched to the area to assist.  Victims of the auto burglary interrupted the burglars near a condo complex on American River Drive and followed the suspect vehicle, which was later determined to be stolen, to the area of US50/65th St off ramp.  The suspects lost control of the stolen vehicle and collided into another vehicle.  A perimeter was set and AIR1 used to attempt to locate the suspects with negative results.

 


09-218527 (Theft): 14th St/ G St at 1429 hours.

Victim (26-years-old) rode his bicycle to corner store and went in for a soda. Suspect took bicycle and tried to ride away. Victim caught up with the suspect and held him until officers arrived. Suspect is on parole. Suspect: Van Duren, Michael 54-years-old


East Command

09-218618 (Suspicious Circumstances): 2315 Stockton Blvd at 1636 hours.

Officers responded to 2135 Stockton Blvd. (UCDMC) regarding 5-week-old female infant with no visible injuries but was in serious condition from unknown causes.  The child was placed on an in-hospital protective custody hold and left in the care and custody of CPS until further investigation is completed.  This investigation is ongoing.


South Command

09-218748 (Assault with Weapon): 24th St/ Florin Road at 1930 hours.

Officers responded and located the victim, on the floor suffering from a stab wound. He was transported to the hospital where he was in critical, but stable condition. The victim got into a fight in the area of 24th / Florin with 3 MB's in their 20's. They were said to be in a green Buick. The victim walked home and attempted to care for the wound himself. After about an hour, fire and police were called when he was about to lose consciousness.


09-218646 (Drug Arrest/ Parole Violation): Benedict Ct at 1716 hours.

Officers went to the above location to conduct a parole search on Majestic Boyd, 29-years-old. During a search of Boyd's room, officers located about 8 ounces of marijuana, a digital scale, packaging material, and cash.


09-218739 (Robbery): 1100 block of 43rd Ave at 1921 hours.

Two MBA suspects (20-21) entered the store.  One suspect pointed a gun at the store clerk and demanded money while the other suspect was the lookout at the front door.  The clerk emptied the cash register and the two suspects fled with the money on foot.


09-219011 (Assault with Weapon): 5500 block of Rightwood Way at 0055 hours.

Officers responded to the above location regarding a subject who called in and advised he had been stabbed.  Officers contacted the subject who was able to provide limited information.  The subject was transported via fire for superficial stab wounds to the shoulder.
