Incidents are from shifts that start on : August 10, 2012

The information provided allows for a timely snapshot of significant events in our community.  The crimes reported here are preliminary investigations, taken in the field by patrol officers, and may or may not be assigned to a Detective for further investigation.  The information provided may be found after further investigation to be incorrect or false.  Certain details of these incidents have been removed due to potential follow up investigation into the incident and/or for privacy rights.

North Command

12-220021 (Suspicious Circumstance): 2400 block of Empress St at 0929 hours.

Officers were conducting follow up from a previous incident when they contacted Kortney Jones-24, who was found to be on probation.  While officers conducted a probation search, they located a backpack with a sawed-off shotgun inside.  Jones was arrested on weapons charges.

12-219392 (Subject Stop): 3100 block of Rio Linda Blvd at 1553 hours.

Gang Enforcement Officers conducted a traffic stop on a wanted subject which led them to a search of a nearby residence.  Inside the home, officers located marijuana and a handgun.  Two subjects were arrested for possession of marijuana for sale.

12-220429 (Attempt Pick Up): 1400 block of Nogales St at 1707 hours.

Officers from the GET Team contacted and arrested Michael Wehling-51, during a probation search.  Officers located a loaded shotgun and additional ammunition.  Wehling was arrested on various weapons related charges.

12-220407 (Traffic Stop): South Ave / Kern St at 1646 hours.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and observed the driver and passenger passing a small tin back and forth.  The driver, Clyde Arceneaux-32, was found to be on probation.  Inside the tin was amphetamine.  The passenger, Alyssa Staley-25, did not disclose her name to officers for a significant period of time.  Eventually officers discovered her identity and found to have two outstanding felony warrants.  Both were transported to jail.  While being booked at jail, suspect Staley was found with additional narcotics on her person.

12-221020 (Homicide): 2500 block of Traction Ave at 0315 hours.

Officers responded to the sounds of shots fired.  Upon arrival, officers located a male adult in his 20s who had been shot in the upper body.  Medics arrived on scene and transported him to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.  Homicide detectives and CSI were called to process the scene.  A motive for the shooting is still under investigation.

12-220992 (Missing Person): 2100 block of Sherington Way at 0233 hours.

Officers responded to a report of a missing 14-year-old boy.  It was reported that he was possibly with a 17-year-old friend that is also reported missing as well.  The boy was entered into the Missing Person System for further follow up.

Central Command

12-220068 (Burglary): 1700 block of J St at 1028 hours.

It was reported that a male and female were attempting to sell stolen items at a local business.  Police were called and were able to detain the male, Perry Romano-49.  Officers conducted further investigation and soon located and detained the female suspect, Ema Major-42.  It was discovered that both suspects were involved in breaking into storage lockers and attempting to sell the stolen items.  They were both arrested for conspiracy, burglary and possession of stolen property.

12-220194 (Stolen Vehicle/Burglary): 1200 block of 43rd St at 1313 hours.

Officers were called to the area regarding a stolen vehicle that was observed parked in front of a home.  That same vehicle was involved in an early hit and run.  A witness advised that the female driver exited the vehicle and went to the rear of the home.  Upon arrival, officers detained the female suspect and discovered she had just burglarized that house.  Upon search of the stolen vehicle, officers located other stolen items that appeared to have been taken in additional home burglaries.  Arrested was Virginia Rivas-26.

12-220822 (Traffic Control): 28th St / Q St at 2321 hours.

While on routine patrol, officers observed a structure fire.  The Fire Department was called and handled the incident.  Officers assisted in traffic control.

East Command

12-220930 (Shooting): 5700 block of 64th St at 0103 hours.

Police received multiple calls of sounds of shots fired in the area.  Upon arrival, officers located property in front of a home that had been hit by gun fire.  There were no reports of injury.

South Command

12-219378 (Attempt Pick Up): 7000 block of Franklin Blvd at 1544 hours.

Officers from the Crime Suppression Unit contacted and arrested Kandy Thompson-35, for possession of stolen property as well as possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

12-218981 (Burglary): 2600 block of Riverside Blvd at 0803 hours.

Officers responded to a report of a burglary.  The suspect(s) entered the business, ransacked the interior and stole items. 

12-220242 (Burglary): 7000 block of Reichmuth Way at 1413 hours.

Officers responded to a burglary that had just been interrupted by the homeowner.  As the victim returned home two male Black adults ran from his house and got into a nearby car and drove away.  The suspects were described as being in their 20s, and dark complected.  One suspect was 5'8" medium build and the other was 6', 200 pounds.

12-220288 (Attempt Pick Up): 2600 block of 21st Ave at 1501 hours.

Animal Control requested our assistance with contacting an uncooperative subject whose dogs had recently killed several neighborhood dogs.  A records check showed the subject was William Lee-37, and was a parolee-at-large.  Officers assisted and placed Lee under arrest for his outstanding parole warrant.

12-220948 (Shots Fired): 2600 block of 52nd Ave at 0122 hours.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired with numerous subjects fighting.  Upon arrival, officers located a house party with numerous subjects leaving the area on foot and on bicycles.  Officers discovered an argument erupted and a subject fired multiple rounds up into the air in front of the house.  The suspect was described as a male Black, 16-20 years old, 5'-3", 120 pounds with dreadlocks.  Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
