Incidents are from shifts that start on : October 25, 2012

The information provided allows for a timely snapshot of significant events in our community.  The crimes reported here are preliminary investigations, taken in the field by patrol officers, and may or may not be assigned to a Detective for further investigation.  The information provided may be found after further investigation to be incorrect or false.  Certain details of these incidents have been removed due to potential follow up investigation into the incident and/or for privacy rights.

North Command

12-293754 (Assault): 4300 block of Norwood Ave at 1535 hours.

Officers responded to reports of a stabbing.  The victim reported that he was assaulted by an unknown subject as he exited his residence.  After the physical assault the victim fled on foot at which time he realized he had also been stabbed.  The victim sustained a non-life threatening injury and was treated at a local hospital.  This investigation is ongoing.

12-294181 (Robbery): 100 block of Cathcart Ave at 0214 hours.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired.  Upon arrival officers located the victim who reported an attempted robbery.  The victim was approached by an unknown adult male who demanded money from the victim.  When the victim refused the suspect produced a gun and fired one shot at the victim.  The victim was slightly struck by the gunshot and sustained a non-life threatening injury that did not require medical attention.  The suspect fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival and a report was taken. 

12-294212 (Burglary): 2500 block of West El Camino Ave at 0508 hours.

Officers responded to a burglary alarm at a closed business.  Signs of entry were located and it was unknown if anything had been taken. 

12-294214 (Burglary): 3700 block of Truxel Road at 0519 hours.

Officers responded to a burglary of a closed business.  Signs of forced entry were located.  A report was taken and this investigation is still ongoing.

Central Command

12-294034 (Robbery): 21st Street/W Street at 2138 hours.

The victim was walking when she was approached by a subject on a bike. The subject forcibly took her purse and fled.  No injuries were reported. 

12-293808 (Check Fraud): 3000 block of Capital Ave at 1636 hours.

Police received reports of a subject attempting to cash a stolen check.  The officers quickly responded and detained the suspect prior to her fleeing the scene.  Geeta Mattu-28, was charged with check fraud and possession of stolen property. 

12-294115 (Subject Stop): Alhambra Blvd / N St at 2345 hours.

Officers conducted a subject stop and narcotics were located.  Howard Steverson-20, was arrested and charges with possession of narcotics.

12-294156 (Traffic Stop): 3200 block of Julliard Dr at 0109 hours.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and a search was done.  Narcotics were located and Jeremy Hall-41, was arrested on narcotics charges and violation of the terms and conditions of his parole.

East Command

12-293728 (Vehicle Pursuit): Florin Perkins Rd / Elder Creek Rd at 1504 hours.

Officers located a vehicle that had been seen driving recklessly and a short vehicle pursuit ensued.  The suspect’s vehicle became disabled after it was involved in a minor collision.  Both occupants (driver Tahran Cowan-24, and passenger James Allen-23) were taken into custody without any further incident.  The occupants of the vehicle that was struck by the suspect reported non-life threatening injuries that did not require medical attention.

12-294108 (Stolen Vehicle): 3800 block of Moddison Ave at 2337 hours.

The victim was assaulted by his son who then took his parents vehicle. The son and vehicle were located briefly after this incident. The son, Jeffrey Brousseau-47, was taken into custody for multiple charges including theft, elder abuse, possession of stolen property, and DUI. 

South Command

12-293843 (Assault): 6200 block of Sun River Dr. at 1710 hours.

Police were notified that the victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound, was dropped off at a local hospital by a citizen who immediately left the area. Officers responded to the hospital to investigate.  Officers searched for a location where this could have occurred but were unable to locate a scene.  This investigation is still ongoing.


12-293631 (Arrest): 6600 block of South Land Park Dr at 1310 hours.

Officers responded to the area in attempt to locate a wanted subject. The subject was located and taken into custody as he was hiding inside a residence.

12-293524 (Suspicious Subjects): 6700 block of Golf View Dr at 1049 hours.

Officers responded to reports of multiple suspicious subjects knocking on doors in a neighborhood.  Officers quickly responded and saturated the area.  The subjects were located and one of them was identified as being related to a prior burglary.  The juvenile suspect was taken into custody and booked on burglary charges from the previous incident.

12-293942 (Check Fraud): 5500 block of Franklin Blvd at 1912 hours.

Officers were alerted of a subject attempting to cash a fictitious check.  Upon the officer’s arrival the suspect was attempting to get away.   Sherin Wahby-44, was detained by officers and ultimately arrested for check fraud.

12-294020 (DUI): Blair Ave / Belleau Wood Ln at 2113 hours.

Officers conducted a traffic stop which led to the driver being arrested for DUI.


12-294206 (Shots Fired): 3100 block of 37th Ave at 0353 hours.

Officers quickly responded to the area regarding reports of subjects hanging out and recklessly firing a gun.  Upon arrival two subjects were located in front of a residence and an investigation ensued.  Officers located a gun and it was determined that one of the subjects had recently fired it towards the ground. Both subjects were arrested on charges related to this incident.
