If you are planning to install or currently have alarm unit in your home or business, you must have a Burglar Alarm System Permit on file with the Sacramento Police Department Alarm Unit. The City of Sacramento has 959 ABC-licensed establishments (656 are on-sale and wholesale, and 303 are off-sale and special license), with more than 43 percent of all licensed businesses located in the Downtown core. Over many years, the Sacramento Police Department has developed an effective and successful relationship with the local Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) office and its investigators.

To begin the application process for an entertainment permit, you must schedule an appointment by calling the City of Sacramento's Code Enforcement Division at (916) 808-8149. The fee for a new two-year permit is $1,428 and $702 for a one-time event special permit. A $756 non-refundable fee is required for all entertainment permit applications. Also, all applicants must be fingerprinted by the Sacramento Police Department.
