Forensics (CSI) Volunteers

The Forensic Investigations Section is responsible for the identification of suspects from latent fingerprints, and ballistic, trace, and biological evidence found at crime scenes. Forensics is comprised of the Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) Unit, the Major Crimes Unit, and the Latent Examination Unit.

Forensics personnel are responsible for the following critical functions:

  • Responding to a wide variety of crime scenes
  • Interviewing police personnel, witnesses, and victims on scene
  • Collecting evidence, processing crime scenes, and booking evidence
  • Collecting and evaluating latent fingerprints
  • Following cases through to completion including documentation, preservation and analysis of evidence, and providing courtroom testimony
  • Offering technical expertise in burglary, robbery, and sexual assault cases
