Investigations Volunteers
Investigations follows up on cases that are referred from Patrol and processed through Records. In 2008, nearly 61,000 cases were referred to Investigations. Types of cases represented in the chart include: child, adult and family abuse; assaults (felony, misdemeanor, and guns); property crimes (robbery, burglary, home invasion, carjacking, bank take-overs); financial; and auto theft.
The Special Investigations Division includes the Department's unique investigative units such as Vice; Narcotics; Asset Forfeiture; and Explosive Ordnance Disposal. It also includes Youth Services and the Gang Unit which provide enforcement, training, truancy sweeps, and prevention programs.
