In this edition of City Beat...the Sacramento Police Department has come up with a new - and never before tried - way of recruiting a more diverse police force. It's called the 'Community Recruiter' Program...they're making police recruiters out of leaders who work one-on-one with potential police recruits. In the process, they're paving the way for departments across the country to follow suit. We'll also introduce you to some of the men and women who make up the Sacramento Police Department. They'll share their struggles of what it's like being a minority in a primarily Caucasian male workforce - and why they say it's the best move they've made. And speaking of minorities - Sacramento was named the most integrated city in the nation...a city that has no majority population, but is truly a melting pot. What makes Sacramento so great? We'll hear it directly from Mayor Heather Fargo. Last, you'll meet an officer whose way of reaching out to kids is music to their ears. We'll explain. Join us for the next City Beat.
