Police Investigate Overnight Homicide

The Sacramento Police Department is investigating an overnight shooting that left a man dead.

On January 23, 2010, at 1:33 a.m., officers responded to the area of Dixieanne Avenue and Cambridge Street regarding a report of a person shot.  Upon arrival, officers located a man lying on the front yard of a nearby residence suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body.  The Sacramento Fire Department responded and declared the victim dead at the scene.  The identity of the victim is not being released at this time pending notification to his family.   He is a Sacramento resident and is only being identified as a male White in his 30's.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene.  Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances that lead up to this deadly shooting.  So far, the investigation has revealed that the victim may have been involved in a dispute with several subjects just prior to the shooting.  At this time, suspect information has not been established.
