Arrest in 2009 South Area Murder

The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 18-year-old Keith Williams for the 2009 murder of Paul Cousins.

On May 19, 2009, at 10:53 p.m., officers responded to the 7800 block of Summerview Way on a shooting call.  Officers arrived finding two victims who had been shot.  Paul Cousins, 21 years old, died at the scene.  Cousin's 19-year-old friend was transported to U.C. Davis Medical Center and survived his injuries.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene.  Based on their investigation, it is believed that Paul Cousins and his friend were standing outside when two suspects approached and shot the victims.  The investigation led to identifying Keith Williams as being involved in the shooting.  Detectives believe that the shooting was gang motivated.

On May 4, 2010, detectives went to Woodward, Iowa and took Keith Williams into custody for murder and attempt murder.  On May 6, 2010, Williams was brought back to Sacramento and booked into jail.
