Police Investigate Deadly Shooting

The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a late night shooting that left two dead and three others suffering from gun shot wounds.

On June 17, 2010, at 10:40 p.m., officers responded to the 3900 block of Balsam Street on the sound of shots fired.  Upon arrival, officers found five victims who had been shot in the driveway of a home.  One victim died at the scene and four others were transported to area hospitals.  One of the four transported to area hospitals later died from his injuries.  The victims were all male Blacks ages 58, 31, 29, 27, and 18.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene.  Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe that the victims were standing in the driveway area of the residence when a white or gray sedan drove by and the occupant (s) shot at the victims.  At this time, detectives have not determined a motive for the shooting.
