Surveillance Footage Leads to Arrest of Murder Suspects

The Sacramento Police Department arrested two suspects for the murder of 27-year-old Chester Jackson.

On February 20, 2011, at 2:40 a.m., officers received a call to the 2900 block of Advantage Way on a subject who had been shot outside a restaurant. Officers arrived and found Chester Jackson shot on the sidewalk area in front of the business. Jackson was later declared deceased at the scene.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene. Based upon the investigation, it is believed that two groups of subjects got into an argument inside the restaurant.  The groups went outside and the argument escalated resulting in the victim getting shot.

Detectives were able to retrieve surveillance video from inside the restaurant.  On February 23, 2011, detectives released the surveillance images of the suspects to the public.  Within hours of the release, detectives received tips which led to the identification of the suspects as 26-year-old Marcus Davis and 30-year-old Robert Lucas.  Both suspects reside in Vallejo, California.

On February 24, 2011, the suspect's family contacted detectives and indicated they would bring Davis and Lucas to our police headquarters.  At 4:00 p.m., both Davis and Lucas arrived and were taken into custody without incident for murder.
