Attack of Female Jogger Being Investigated

The Sacramento Police Department is investigating the attack of a female jogger in North Natomas.

On June 10, 2011, at 7:35 p.m., officers responded to New Market and Town Center Drive on a female jogger that was attacked.  Based on the investigation, the suspect grabbed the female jogger from behind, pulled her to the ground, and began choking her.  The victim was able to break free and run away.

The suspect was described as a male Black, 20's, 5'5" -5'10", wearing a black shirt, and white shorts.

Although there is no evidence of any connection, there was a similar attack back in May of this year in the Westlake area of North Natomas.  In that attack, a female jogger was also grabbed from behind and choked.  The suspect in that incident was described as a male Hispanic or Asian, dark skin, 5'6", wearing a black baseball cap, light colored shirt and dark colored baggy shorts.

The Police Department wants to remind residents to always be aware of your surroundings and watch for any suspicious persons or activity in your neighborhoods.  Additionally, there is safety in numbers so try to walk/jog with a partner when possible.
