Stranger Danger

Police Warn Of Suspicious Activity

The Sacramento Police Department wants to make the community aware of a suspicious man contacting juveniles.

On Friday, January 27, 2012, at 10:51 a.m., two juveniles were walking in the 3200 block of North Park Drive. They were approached by a white cargo van. The driver asked if they wanted a ride and they answered "no". The driver repeated his question in a more demanding fashion and the two juveniles ran away.

On Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 11:25 a.m., a juvenile was walking in the 2800 block of Stone Creek Drive. She was approached by a white cargo van. When the driver honked at her, she became alarmed and ran away.

The driver was described as a male unknown race 30's, with short black hair, no facial hair, wearing glasses and a black pullover shirt. In both incidents, the juveniles noticed that the van did not have windows in the back of the vehicle.

At this point, investigators don't know exactly what this man's intentions were.  However, his behavior is concerning. Parents are encouraged to talk with their children and discuss possible dangerous situations and how to avoid them. Because education is a key factor in preventing crime, we provide crime prevention tips on our website; the more you know, the safer you'll be. Please visit our website at www.sacpd.org and click on the "Be Safe" option to find out how to better protect you and your family.

The Sacramento Police Department urges anyone with information pertaining to these incidents to contact the dispatch center at (916) 264-5471 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES).
