The Sacramento Police Department is asking for the community's help with information regarding a fatal hit and run vehicle collision.

On December 26, 2012, at approximately 7:06 a.m., police and medical personnel responded to the 5900 block of Valley Hi Drive regarding an unresponsive subject near the east side of the roadway.

Officers quickly arrived on scene to find medical personnel assisting the male Black adult victim in his twenties. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the Sacramento Police Department Major Collision Investigations Unit was called out.

Detectives believe that a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Valley HI Drive in the early morning hours when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway. Evidence consistent with a broken headlamp and turn signal were recovered at the scene.  Officers canvassed the area and were unable to locate any eyewitnesses to the collision.

Detectives are searching for information to help identify the vehicle involved that is believed to have damage to its right side headlamp and turn signal.

The Sacramento Police Department urges anyone with information pertaining to this crime to contact Detective Doug Tracy at (916) 808-6030 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES).
