Two Pedestrians Killed by Hit and Run Driver

On Friday February 1, 2013, two male adults were struck by a vehicle while in the road on 24th Street south of Meadowview Road.

At approximately 2:45 am, officers from the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 7600 block of 24th Street regarding two subjects lying in the road. When officers and members of the Sacramento Fire Department arrived on scene, they determined the two subjects had been victims of a hit and run collision. One of the victims was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The Sacramento Police Department's Major Collision Unit responded to investigate. Witnesses advised that the victims were possibly in a physical altercation prior to the collision.  It is believed that a white colored, late model 2000's Chevrolet Silverado four wheel drive pickup was involved. The pickup was described as having a red or orange colored "Z71" emblem attached to the side of the truck towards the rear of the bed.
