The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a possible gang related shooting that left one dead and three others injured.
On Sunday, June 23, 2013 at approximately 1:46 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 4000 block of Sea Drift Way on multiple reports of gunshots in the area. Officers arrived and found that a shooting had occurred and it was possibly related to a house party from earlier in the night. There were no victims located at the scene, however there were still a few subjects in the area.
While officers were on Sea Drift Way, an area hospital called into dispatch to report that four victims of a shooting arrived in the emergency room. One of the subjects did not survive his injuries. The 19-year-old male victim was brought in with gunshot wounds and was soon after declared deceased by medical personnel.
A 15-year-old female victim, and a 17 and 18-year-old male victim sustained non-life threatening gunshot wounds and were dropped off at the same hospital.
A preliminary investigation found that a disturbance erupted between two groups at the party which lead to shots being fired. The confrontation and shooting occurred outside the home.
Homicide Investigators and Gang Detectives responded to both the hospital and the initial location where the shooting took place. CSI and the Sacramento Coroner's Office responded to assist in the investigation.
Homicide and Gang Detectives are actively delving into the case and believe there are more witnesses and are urging those to contact the police.
