Shooting Homicide

The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one adult male fatally injured.

On Saturday, August 17, 2013, at 6:40 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 3300 block of Nareb Street.   Upon arrival, responding officers located the Hispanic male in his 40s who had been shot. The victim was transported to an area hospital and succumbed to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had arrived at the home on Nareb Street shortly before the shooting.  Witnesses reported a verbal altercation occurred and multiple shots fired. The victim was struck one time in the upper body.

There were multiple people on scene at the time of the shooting, it does not appear to be a random incident and the victim and suspect seem to have known each other.  The suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot moments after the shooting.  Soon after the victim was shot, there were reports of additional gunfire in front of the home.

Sacramento Police Homicide detectives and Crimes Scene Investigators were called to the scene to assist with the investigation.  Multiple witnesses were contacted at the scene and no other injuries were reported.

The Sacramento Police Department urges anyone with information pertaining to this crime to contact the dispatch center at (916) 264-5471 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES).
