Teen Driving

Graduations and summer vacation are just around the corner. In other words, it’s teen driving season! While this is an exciting and wonderful time for teenagers, it can mean anxiety for parents as their teens drive more, to more unusual destinations, and later at night. The best people to teach a teen about the importance and responsibility of driving are parents. Your wisdom, guidance, and continued involvement in this aspect of your teen’s life can make a big difference and save lives. Engaging in conversations surrounding your teen’s driving can be contentious at times. However, dialogue between you and your teen is critical to his or her safety.

Please take the time to talk about driving safety with your teen. In addition, for your use, the Sacramento Police Department has provided a Parent-Teen Driving Contract which includes information about California Provisional Drivers License restrictions.
