The information provided allows for a timely snapshot of significant events in our community.  The crimes reported here are preliminary investigations, taken in the field by patrol officers, and may or may not be assigned to a Detective for further investigation.  The information provided may be found after further investigation to be incorrect or false.  Certain details of these incidents have been removed due to potential follow up investigation into the incident and/or for privacy rights.

The following incidents occurred between 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2017

North Command

17-231074 (Robbery): 200 block of Eleanor Ave at 1004 hours.

Officers were in the area when they were hailed by citizens who had just been robbed. Officers determined the victims had been walking down the street when they were approached by two suspects. The suspects stated they had a weapon and demanded personal property. The suspects fled with the property. The victims were uninjured and the suspects were not located. The case was forwarded to detectives.

17-231344 (Assault): Connie Dr / Auburn Blvd at 1643 hours.

Officers were called to the area regarding an assault. Once officers were on scene they discovered the victim and friend had attempted to serve a restraining order.  They were attacked by the person they were attempting to serve. No one was injured however there was damage caused to a vehicle. Officers located the suspect and arrested him for various charges.

Central Command

17-231092 (Game Plan): 900 block of I St at 1035 hours.

Officers were in the area of downtown in response to a planned gathering in regards to the incident in Charlottesville. There were no incidents and no arrests were made.

East Command

17-230920 (Shooting): 4000 block of Martin Luther King Jr Blvd at 0244 hours.

Officers were called to the area regarding several subjects who had been shot. Upon officers arrival, they determined the victims had been attending a gathering at the location when multiple shots were fired from a vehicle. Officers determined four victims received non-life-threatening wounds and were transported by the fire department to area hospitals. No one was arrested and the suspects were not located. The shooting is being investigated by detectives.

South Command

17-230803 (Robbery): Wainscott Way / Ellwood Ave at 0017 hours.

Officers were called to the area regarding a robbery. Several subjects were walking down the street, when they were confronted by another group in a vehicle. The group in the vehicle began a physical altercation and took property from the group that had been walking. The suspects fled with the property. Several of the victims received minor injuries that did not require treatment at a hospital. The case is being forwarded to investigations for additional follow-up
